Earlier this year and following the rumors, Blizzard announced StarCraft Remastered. Basically this is a remastering of the original StarCraft that helped the RTS genre gain a competitive edge in eSports, and without a doubt had a huge cultural impact in countries such as South Korea where the game continues to remain extremely popular.

For those who wouldn’t mind getting their hands on the remastered copy of the game, you might be interested to learn that Blizzard has since confirmed that the game will be released on the 14th of August, which means that we have about a month and a half to go before we are able to play it.

The game is priced at $15 and is available for pre-purchase via Blizzard’s online store. However players are required to have the StarCraft Anthology activated on their Blizzard accounts, but given that the Anthology is free anyway we guess you can go ahead and do that right now. Note that Blizzard has already made the original StarCraft free.

Gamers who don’t mind the outdated graphics can go ahead and check it out. The upside is that should you decide to upgrade to the remastered version of the game, your progression will be carried forward. For more details about StarCraft Remastered, head on over to the StarCraft website.
