HMD Global is trying to be very forthcoming with updates for the Nokia-branded handsets it has released so far. The company has confirmed that it’s going to release the Nokia 3 Android 7.1.1 update by the end of August. The Nokia 3 is HMD Global’s entry-level handset that’s just available in a handful of markets right now.

HMD Global launched the Nokia 3 with Android 7.0 Nougat onboard. There are already quite a lot of devices out there that have yet to receive the upgrade to Android 7.1.1. The Nokia 3 will certainly be one of the few that get to make this jump in the near future.

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, confirmed via Twitter that Nokia 3 is going to receive its Android 7.1.1 Nougat update by the end of August. He decided to set the record straight on Twitter after receiving questions from users about when the update would arrive.

Sarvikas also added that the Android 7.1.1 update for Nokia 3 is going to be a global release once. So even though the Nokia 3 is only available in markets like India as well as some countries in southeast Asia and Europe, the update will actually be available globally.

It remains to be seen when the Nokia 3 is going to be launched in other markets across the globe, particularly the United States.
