Alleged Images Of 60-inch OLED Apple Television Leaked

Ever since Walter Isaacson’s biography on Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was published, one particular segment of the book managed to capture everyone’s attention, and it was a portion where Jobs was quoted as saying that he had “cracked” the code to building a TV (assuming current TVs need “fixing”).

This fueled rumors that Apple could be working on a television set of their own, a rumor that has persisted for a couple of years before things went silent, or at least until now where images posted onto Weibo (via Benjamin Geskin; via 9to5Mac) made their rounds on the internet, showing off what is allegedly a 60-inch OLED television made by Apple, or at least a prototype that is being tested.

Now whether or not the images are real remains to be seen, but as 9to5Mac points out, blurry photos are usually a good sign of it being fake as it makes it hard to tell if it is the real deal. Alternatively one possibility is that just like many companies, Apple could be working on prototypes and exploring new product ideas, although whether or not these products are commercialized is a different story.

Also as 9to5Mac notes, televisions are a highly competitive business which means that for a company that enjoys high profit margins, creating a device that will last users for years on end doesn’t seem like something Apple would do, but in any case it’s probably best to take it with a grain of salt.
