CBS TV Channels On Dish Blacked Out

CBS and Dish aren’t on the best of terms right now and that has resulted in the blacking out of dozens of CBS channels on Dish. What that means is those who were looking forward to catching NFL games this Thanksgiving might have to make alternate arrangement. CBS had said that it would black out its channels as a result of its ongoing dispute with Dish on subscription fees. The network has followed through on the warnings and taken its channels out for Dish subscribers.

Customers who rely on pay-TV packages to get their CBS stations will no longer be able to access them until the issue is resolved.

The bulk of CBS programs are offered for free over-the-air and since Dish offers customers digital OTA antennas for free, they will be able to access popular network shows, news, and sports from CBS.

Dish has confirmed that CBS blacked out its channels last night. Subscribers can no longer access 28 channels in 18 markets over 26 states.

The dispute revolves around the fees that CBS wants from Dish for the retransmission of its content. The network says that it has been trying for months to reach an agreement with Dish but the latter hasn’t been playing fair.

“Dish is infamous within the media industry for its long history of disputes with content providers,” CBS alleged.

Dish hit back by saying that it’s “regrettable and unnecessary that CBS is bringing its greed into the homes of millions of families this Thanksgiving,” adding that the network is trying to “tax” subscribers on programs that are losing viewers.
