Philips SmartSleep Headband Plays White Noise To Help You Sleep

[CES 2018] Philips has unveiled a new product to help you sleep called SmartSleep at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018. The company says that this is the “world’s first and only clinically proven wearable” for customers who are looking to improve deep sleep quality. It’s aimed at people who do not get enough sleep, which is basically everyone in this day and age.

Philips SmartSleep basically plays white noise to help you sleep. It’s different from other wearables that only monitor your sleep pattern. It has two small sensors which detect periods of slow wave sleep and intervene to boost it in real time.

This happens with the help of Philips’ proprietary sleep analysis algorithms that produce customized audio tones or white noise to enhance the depth and duration of slow wave sleep.

The companion app logs sleep improvement over time and also provides tips on how to get the best possible night’s sleep. The company claims in its press release that 70 percent of chronically sleep-deprived users who tested this product for two weeks reported feeling less tired during the day.

Philips SmartSleep is going to be released in the United States this spring. It’s going to cost $399. It’s not exactly cheap, perhaps a more conventional white noise machine will suffice? You can find plenty of them on Amazon for as low as $20.
