Apple’s 2018 iPhone X Will Not Be Priced Lower Than $899

We know that many weren’t too thrilled with the iPhone X’s asking price last year, where the base model was priced starting at $999 which is a considerable jump in price compared to a few years ago. However if you were hoping that Apple would make its phones cheaper this year, prepare to be disappointed.

According to a report by Ashraf Eassa from The Motley Fool, it seems that he believes that Apple won’t reduce its 2018 iPhone X price, or if it does, the lowest he expects Apple to go is $899, which is about $100 cheaper than the current price. This is based on rumors that Apple could have a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone model in the works for 2018 as well, which KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had predicted would cost between $699 to $799.

Based on this, Eassa believes that Apple will maintain a $200 price difference between the LCD and OLED models, meaning that $899 will be the cheapest the 2018 iPhone X could get, at least that’s if Apple plans on maintaining the same profit margins as before. We suppose there are some who had hoped that this year’s iPhones could be cheaper as for the most part and save for the larger displays, there shouldn’t be any major overhauls.

This means that Apple doesn’t need its suppliers to build new production facilities, or invest as heavily into R&D, all of which contribute to the overall price. In any case we suppose only time will tell, so check back with us later in the year for more details if there are any to be had.
