Black Panther Box Office Take Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide

To say that Black Panther has been a hit would be a massive understatement. The movie clinched a record $235 million opening last month at 4,020 locations in North America, earning it the second place on the list of all record openings for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney has now announced that Black Panther’s worldwide box office take will cross the $1 billion mark.

Directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther will join the three comma club over this weekend, Disney has said. It’s going to be the 16th Walt Disney Studios release to achieve this milestone.

Some of the other titles that have raked in over a billion dollars worldwide include Captain America: Civil War, Iron Man 3, The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Black Panther will cross this major milestone on the 26th day since its release.

The movie has made $521 million domestically so far making it the ninth highest grossing film in history. Black Panther opened in China this weekend and has seen a solid start there, bringing in $22 million on the first day according to Disney’s estimates.

Black Panther has been setting records with good reason as it currently has a 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. It has become one of the best-reviewed films based on a comic book in history.
