First announced five months ago, the new Kindle Oasis is the first waterproof e-reader from Amazon. The upgraded model brought a larger battery and a 7 inch display with an aluminum back. Amazon is now offering this device in a new color option. Customers who have yet to purchase a Kindle Oasis will now be able to pick one up in champagne gold as well.

The fresh coat of paint has been applied to the aluminum back as the front has been kept dark so that the text pops up. That’s the extent of the changes here as everything else remains the same.

It has the same 7 inch 300ppi display and tapered side for easier one-handed use. The device’s IPX8 rating protects it in up to two meters of fresh water for up to an hour. It easily withstands splashes or drops in the pool.

One difference here is that this particular model won’t be available with 8GB of onboard storage and Amazon isn’t going to offer a cellular model as well unlike the original Oasis. Those who want this device in this color will have to make their peace with the 32GB Wi-Fi only model that costs $300 without ads and $280 with ads.
