At the moment Amazon’s Prime subscription costs $99 a year, which might sound expensive upfront, but considering all the features that members get access to, it doesn’t seem so bad. However it looks like Prime customers will have to start paying more because according to a tweet from CNET’s Ben Fox Rubin, Amazon will be hiking up its Prime membership prices.
According to the tweet, Prime memberships are expected to cost $119 every year and this change will come into effect this coming May. However these new prices will only affect those who are signing up for membership in May, so if you’re not a member now, perhaps now might be a good time to sign up if you’re looking to save yourself $20.

So what about existing members? For those who are already members and paid $99, not to worry as you won’t have to pay the difference. However if your membership is about to expire on or after the 16th of June, then the next round of your subscription will be at the new price of $119, which we guess is to be expected which means that Amazon won’t be grandfathering in users at the old price.
Ultimately this price hike means that users will be paying roughly $10 a month which gives them access to faster and free shipping, Prime-only deals, music, videos, and more, so if you think about it it’s still a pretty good deal.
