If the rumor mill is to be believed, Apple has a new version of the iPhone SE in the pipeline. Word on the street is that the company is likely going to announce the iPhone SE 2 this September. The timeline is as obvious as it can get given that it’s around the same time when Apple announces new iPhones for the year. What this does hint at is the possibility that the iPhone SE 2 might be announced alongside the flagship models that Apple also has in the pipeline.

Macotakara reports that contrary to previous reports that the iPhone SE 2 will be launched before the new flagship models, the cheaper handset is going to be launched in September instead.

The report also adds that Apple has “several” models of the device under consideration and that it hasn’t decided on the final design as yet. One model is said to feature a 4 inch display that’s similar to the existing iPhone SE while the other features a 6 inch display.

It’s also believed that the iPhone SE 2 will have a notched display as well much like the iPhone X with the notch being used to house the TrueDepth camera which would bring features like Face ID and Animoji to the cheaper handset.

It’s too soon to be sure about any of this and Apple itself hasn’t hinted anything about a new iPhone SE so take all of this with a grain of salt until we have more to go on.
