LG is due to launch a new flagship-level smartphone later this year that will take on the likes of the Galaxy Note 9 and Apple’s new iPhone. A new report from South Korea states that the LG V40 ThinQ is going to be released in October 2018. LG will reportedly release the handset ahead of the new iPhones in a bid to effectively compete with the market darling.

The report cites senior telco officials in South Korea who have apparently agreed with the company when to begin selling the LG V40 ThinQ. If the information offered by this report is accurate then the LG V40 ThinQ will be available for purchase in early October.

The company has reportedly chosen this time frame to release the handset in order to avoid direct competition with the Galaxy Note 9 which Samsung will unveil on August 9th and likely release on August 24th.

LG’s new flagship may also be available in the market before the new iPhone which is expected to be released towards the end of October this year. The LG V40 ThinQ may not be unveiled at IFA 2018. LG may conduct its own event for the handset in mid-September. A spokesman for LG only said that the company has only shortened the time from the unveiling to the device actually being available for purchase but didn’t provide a confirmed launch date.
