Capcom confirmed the Devil May Cry 5 release date during the Gamescom edition of the Inside Xbox live stream today. The much-awaited sequel to 2008’s Devil May Cry 4 is going to be released next year. It’s helmed by director Hideaki Itsuno who was behind the previous title as well. Devil May Cry 5 will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Capcom has confirmed today that Devil May Cry 5 will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 8th, 2019. The title does borrow some styling from 2013’s DmC: Devil May Cry but it doesn’t follow that title’s storyline. It’s a proper sequel to Devil May Cry 4.

There will be three playable characters in the new game: Dante, Nero, and an as-yet-unknown protagonist. Nero’s iconic demon-powered arm, called Devil Bringer, is ripped from his body at the beginning of this new title and replaced by robotic arms called Devil Breakers. Each arm offers Nero a different ability so the character is capable of executing different combos in a single fight.

Capcom has also revealed a new trailer for the title during the special Gamescom edition of the Inside Xbox live stream which prominently features Dante, the main series protagonist.
