One of the problems usually associated with buying brand-name computers is that usually they’re not designed to be easily upgraded. This is because usually brand-name PCs come with cases customized for their needs, which also means that sometimes not all parts will fit the way you want. Plus there is also the added incentive of forcing customers to buy a new PC when it comes time to upgrade.

However if you’d rather not spend so much money everytime you need a minor upgrade, HP has you cover as the company has recently taken the wraps off its latest Omen Obelisk gaming desktop. This is a desktop aimed at gamers, but one of its selling points is the fact that it has been designed so that in the future should gamers ever want to, upgrading it and swapping out parts will be easy.

According to HP, “With a DIY-friendly, industry-standard upgrade path, along with options for the latest graphics and processor architectures, gamers can achieve the performance they expect from games they love, now and well into the future.” The Omen Obelisk will feature a microATX case with support for full-length GPUs, ATX power supplies, and tool-less 2x 3.5-inch hard drives, meaning that they can be easily removed and swap without needing tools like a screwdriver.

As for the current version of the Obelisk that will be sold as it is, gamers will be able to choose from 8th Generation Intel Core i+ CPUs or 2nd Generation AMD CPUs, along with the recently announced NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080, as well as a bunch of storage options which includes PCIe NVMe SSD, dual storage, triple storage, or Intel Optane memory. For more details you can head on over to HP’s website and start customizing your rig.
