Unless you own a Pixel handset from Google, chances are whenever a major Android update is released, you might end up waiting months before you even get your hands on it. However Essential surprised us all when within a day of Android 9.0 Pie going live, the Essential Phone got the update.

Not to be outdone, it seems that Huawei could be next to release the update. This is according to a post on Weibo in which Huawei confirmed that the update is currently being tested on its flagship handsets. This includes the Mate 10 Pro, the P20, Honor 10, and the Honor V10. There’s no telling when the update will be released or if this is an indication that it will be released soon, but it’s nice to know that Huawei is already working on it.

Hopefully it won’t take too long before the update is released, but until Huawei can provide a narrower timeframe or a specific release date that they are aiming for, Huawei phone owners have no choice but to wait. The company also does not mention anything about the other phones in its portfolio, but note that this doesn’t mean that they’ve forgotten.

More likely than not Huawei is focusing on making the update available for its flagship phones first before moving to its other handsets. That being said, we have to wonder that with the Mate 20/Mate 20 Pro launching soon, will they be launching with Android 9.0 Pie preinstalled?
