Instagram brought the poll sticker to Stories in October last year and it had added similar features over the past few months. The photo-sharing network now also offers an Emoji slider and the Questions sticker. The polls could only be posted publicly in the past but the Facebook-owned service is now allowing to send polls privately through direct messages.

Instagram has confirmed that users can now send a poll privately in Direct. They just need to update their app to get the option of whether they want everyone to see their poll or if they just want to send it to a big group thread, maybe perhaps even just one person.

If a poll is sent in a private group chat, all participants will be able to view the result as they vote in real time. It’s a nice addition to this feature which will make it easier to democratize conversations within a group instead of having to involve your entire Instagram following.

Instagram has started rolling out this feature now and it may be a couple of days before it goes live for everyone. Users on iOS and Android should update their apps to confirm if the feature has gone live in their region yet.
