ZTE has had a tough few months. It was banned by the United States after failing to meet the conditions of an earlier settlement in a sanctions violation case. The company had ceased core operations not long after the ban was slapped. The way was ultimately cleared for ZTE to return to business after it agreed to a fine and management shuffle. Its first new smartphone after this entire ordeal is now expected to be launched at IFA 2018.

The IFA 2018 convention will take place later this month in Berlin where many smartphone manufacturers will unveil their new products. ZTE has confirmed that it will be present at IFA 2018 from August 31st through September 5th.

A leaked invite is now floating online which suggests that perhaps the ZTE Axon 9 might be launched at this event. It’s within the realm of possibility as ZTE has used the IFA stage in the past to unveil new handsets. No further details are available about the handset that ZTE is expected to launch at IFA 2018.

The company itself hasn’t said anything about launching new devices at the convention in Berlin so it remains to be seen if it’s really going to launch its first smartphone after the U.S. ban later this month.
