Activision had previously confirmed that the upcoming Call of Duty title will have a battle royale mode. It didn’t come as a surprise to many given that this particular gaming mode has become very popular due to titles like PUBG and Fortnite. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout mode player count has also been confirmed today by Activision.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout player count will be 80. This means that the mode will support 80 players at once. It’s certainly better than the 64 players that Battlefield V’s Firestorm battle royale mode can support. Nevertheless, it’s shorter than the 100 of Fortnite and PUBG both.

There’s a possibility that the player count could be increased down the line but it’s been kept at 80 for the upcoming beta. That’s likely where it may stay for the public launch as well. Treyarch studio head Dan Bunting hasn’t ruled out the possibility to bump it up to 100 at any point in the future.

It has also been revealed that the battle royale mode is going to have AI-controlled zombies as well that will be wandering in some sections of the map. They would be a threat to players and could also be used as tools against enemies.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is due to be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 12th.
