The OnePlus hype machine is running for the upcoming launch of the company’s next smartphone. It’s going to be an updated variant of the OnePlus 6 that was launched earlier this year. The company has confirmed one major new feature that this smartphone will bring and may have also teased the OnePlus 6T launch date in the process.

OnePlus confirmed today that the OnePlus 6T is going to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. This means that the fingerprint sensor will be placed below the display itself, allowing the company to free up more real estate at the front of the device.

The feature is called Screen Unlock and OnePlus shared a screenshot of the device’s lock screen to showcase what the implementation would look like. An image of the fingerprint at the bottom will be where the user will place their fingerprint to unlock the device.

The date on the lock screen is October 17th. This has led to speculation that perhaps the company has subtly teased the launch date of the OnePlus 6T with this screenshot. It won’t be surprising if it has indeed done that because it’s not uncommon for device manufacturers to tease launch dates like this.

OnePlus hasn’t officially confirmed or denied this, though, so take it with a grain of salt until there’s a confirmation.
