While there is a lot of focus on mirrorless cameras these days, there is still very much a thriving market for compacts. There are plenty of uses for compacts, such as by professionals who want a pocketable backup camera. It can also be used by those who want a camera but don’t want to be burdened by additional expenses like buying lenses, and it could also appeal to those who just want a camera that isn’t their phone.

Now Canon’s Canon PowerShot G7 X is a camera that is well-known to many, and if you are looking forward to the latest model, which presumably will be the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III, you might not have to wait too long because according to Canon Rumors, they have heard that the Mark III could be launched in early 2019, possibly at CES 2019 where we usually see a fair number of camera announcements.

Details about the Mark III are scarce at this point in time, but Canon Rumors says that their sources have told them that focus of the camera will be that of a premium compact that might also appeal to vloggers. There is also rumored to be support for 4K videos, dual pixel autofocus, a new sensor, redesigned ergonomics, and also possibly a longer zoom.

Right now cameras like the Sony RX100 series are pretty popular amongst vloggers so it will be interesting to see if the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III could snatch the crown away from Sony, but given that we have no official information yet, take it with a grain of salt for now.
