HTC announced a few months back that it’s developing a blockchain smartphone that’s going to be called Exodus. The company has now started taking pre-orders for the HTC Exodus 1 but there’s a catch. If you want to pre-order it, you will have to pay for it in cryptocurrency.

It has also revealed the specs of this device. The HTC Exodus 1 features a 6 inch Quad HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There’s also a 12MP + 16MP dual rear and 8 + 8MP dual front camera. All of this is powered by a 3,500mAh battery. It appears to have a transparent back showing fake components similar to what Xiaomi did on a smartphone recently.

The specs are what you’d expect from a flagship smartphone in 2018. That’s not what people will be purchasing this device for. Its defining feature is the secure enclave which will be used for storing cryptocurrency keys. HTC is calling it the Zion Wallet. It’s kept separate from the Android OS so that absolute security can be guaranteed.

Those who are interested in picking one up can pre-order the HTC Exodus 1 starting today for 0.15 bitcoin or 4.78 Ether which at prevailing prices comes out to be just over $960. HTC is expected to start shipping the Exodus 1 to customers in December.
