Apple confirmed recently that the next major update for its mobile platform, iOS 12.1, is going to be released on October 30th. That would be shortly after the company’s hardware event in New York City. It’s following through on its promise and has now rolled out iOS 12.1 for compatible devices. The new update brings a handful of new features including but not limited to group FaceTime.

There’s a fix included for that controversial “beauty bug” as well which caused the front camera on the iPhone XS and XR to overly smooth the skin in selfies. Apple had previously said that this bug was due to an issue in the smart HDR camera system which was choosing the wrong base frame for HDR processing when users took a selfie.

Group FaceTime is perhaps one of the biggest features included in this update. It enables users to video chat with up to 32 people simultaneously. There are 70 new emoji included in this update which will certainly be much appreciated by people who tend to use a lot of emoji.

Last but not the least, there’s also dual-SIM support for the iPhone XS and XR included in iOS 12.1. The software update is being rolled out today so users with supported iPhones and iPads can download it now.
