Latest OnePlus 6T Teaser Hints At In-Display Fingerprint Sensor

OnePlus has confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 6T will be featuring an in-display fingerprint sensor. Now the company has put out a short teaser video which basically confirms the feature, which for those unfamiliar has also been dubbed as Screen Unlock. As it stands not many companies have adopted in-display sensors which probably helps OnePlus stand out from the competition.

Vivo was the first smartphone company to introduce the feature and when we managed to test it out for ourselves at CES earlier this year, we found that it worked as advertised. However we also noticed that there is a slight lag compared to regular fingerprint sensors, but it isn’t particularly noticable unless you’re really looking for it.

It is possible that OnePlus might have found a way to make it work faster, or maybe they’re using newer tech, but we’ll have to wait and find out for ourselves. In the meantime OnePlus had previously explained that the in-display sensor was one of the reasons why the company had to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack.

OnePlus was one of the few remaining major Android OEMs who continued to include the 3.5mm port in their phones, and now with it gone, it looks like more Android users will need to start shopping for wireless headphones unless they don’t mind living the dongle life.
