Amazon announced about a year ago that it was looking to set up a secondary headquarters in the United States which would bring about 50,000 jobs and $5 billion in capital spending. More than 200 proposals came in from states across the country with incentives being offered to attract the e-commerce giant. Amazon today finally announced the location for its HQ2.

Amazon had announced its plans to set up as secondary headquarters in the United States back in September last year. It announced the 20 finalists earlier this year which included cities from both the United States and Canada.

It was reported recently that Amazon might split the HQ2 across two locations. That’s precisely what the company is going to be doing. It has split its secondary U.S. headquarters between two cities.

The company will be opening up new offices in Queens, New York City and the Crystal City area of Arlington, Virginia. The promised 50,000 jobs and $5 billion in capital spending will now be split equally between these locations.

Amazon has also announced today that Nashville will be the home for its new East Coast operations hub. The location will carry out customer fulfillment and transportation activities among other things. It will create some 5,000 jobs in the area.
