Instagram’s Stories feature is an extremely popular one, which is why it didn’t come as a surprise that Facebook decided to monetize the feature by inserting ads in between Stories. However a report from TechCrunch has revealed that Instagram is testing out a new feature that will allow businesses to more easily create targeted ads through Stories.

According to the report, this promotion feature will function in a similar manner to Facebook’s Boost option, where businesses can choose to promote a story when uploading it. They will also be giving business options where interacting with the post, they can choose to either send users to their Instagram profile or to their website.

There will also be targeting options, where business will be able to choose to promote these ads automatically by targeting users who might have similar interests to those that follow your account. They can also select “Local” targets based on location, and there will also be a manual option where businesses will get more control over who gets to see these ads.

Instagram has since confirmed that they are testing the feature, although they are unclear as to when it is expected to be ready for the masses. A spokesperson for the company said, “I can confirm that we are testing this feature globally. We don’t have an immediate timeline for 100 percent rollout, but will keep you posted.”
