Right now Blizzard’s Warcraft franchise pretty much lives on through World of Warcraft. Due to it being an MMORPG, it gives Blizzard the opportunity of adding new content and expanding on the Warcraft universe, versus the original Warcraft RTS which was pretty much limited to just one story per game.

Unfortunately it seems that it is precisely this kind of setup that Blizzard has right now which is why Warcraft 4 is not on the company’s radar right now. Speaking to GameSpot, Blizzard senior producer Pete Stilwell confirmed that the company has no plans for a Warcraft 4 right now, although he does not rule out the possibility that it could come in the future.

According to Stilwell, “I mean, I wouldn’t rule anything out, but we don’t have any plans around [Warcraft IV] at this point. Getting [Warcraft III: Reforged] right, I think, is our priority first and foremost.” At BlizzCon 2018 over the weekend, Blizzard announced Warcraft 3: Reforged which is basically a remaster of the original Warcraft 3 game and its expansion, where it will be given new graphics and updated multiplayer features.

Granted it’s not Warcraft 4 that many gamers might have been hoping for, but we suppose at the very least Blizzard isn’t completely done with the RTS game. Plus given the updated graphics, we are actually looking forward to playing some custom games, and hopefully some classics such as Cube, Wintermaul, and Footman Wars will see a return with a more modern look to them.
