Ever wondered what it would be like to spend a night below the waves of the Indian Ocean in the lap of luxury? Well if you have $50,000 to burn, you can experience that at the private Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort. The property has opened what it calls the world’s first underwater hotel villa. It’s priced at an eye-watering $50,000 a night.

Guests will get a lot for the $50,000 per night price tag. The two-level villa can accommodate up to nine guests all of which are flown in on a private seaplane. They also get a speedboat to use throughout the entire stay. There’s dedicated staff which includes a 24 hour butler and chef service.

The USP here is the king-size bedroom, living area, and bathroom housed in an all-glass structure five meters below the waves. The underground level offers a 180 degree panoramic view of the marine life.

The lower suite was actually built on land in Singapore similar to the resort’s undersea restaurant called Ithaa. The structure is made from acrylic and it was then transported to the site on a special ship from which it was lowered without damaging the reef. It was then nailed into place with concrete pylons to make sure that the lower suite doesn’t shift at high tide or during rough waves.

The resort is now taking reservations for the entire villa which it calls The Muraka. It means coral in the native Dhivehi language.
