It’s common to see ads in fighting game tournaments but Capcom is taking it one step further by bringing ads within the game itself. It has announced the launch of “sponsored content” for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Starting December 11th, players will see these ads for purchasable bundles, costumes, and the Pro Tour in the game itself.

It bundled this announcement with a free trial for the game that also starts December 11th. The game will be free to play from 1pm PT on December 11th through December 19th on the PlayStation 4. No PlayStation Plus subscription is required to download the title but will be needed for online gameplay. Steam is required for PC gamers who want to take part in the trial.

All 16 original characters are included in this trial while three fan-favorite DLC characters will be available for free as well throughout this free trial period. These DLC characters will be available in Ranked, Casual, Battle Lounge, Training, and Challenges modes.

Capcom also adds that sponsored content will be displayed in several locations in-game to remind players about costumes, bundles, and the Capcom Pro Tour. These ads will be displayed on the pre-fight loading screens and in certain stages. Players will have the option to switch off these ads but if they keep them enabled, they will receive extra Fight Money in Ranked and Casual Matches.
