There are many games that have been published throughout the years, but chances are that there are probably many that did not make the cut. In fact close to three decades ago, a prototype of SimCity for the NES console made an appearance during an event, but it was never seen again and instead chose to launch on the SNES console.

Now according to the folks at The Video Game History Foundation (via Kotaku), it seems that they have managed to uncover the lost game and have shared details about it in a post on its website. According to the history of the game, SimCity designer Will Wright collaborated with Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto to bring the game onto the Nintendo’s consoles, but despite a prototype of the NES appearing, it never launched on it and instead launched for the SNES.

In fact many had thought the game to be lost for good and was seen as a Holy Grail amongst collectors and archivists, but The Video Game History Foundation managed to get their hands on it and digitize a copy, thus tearing the game down to give us a peek as to what might have been.

Safe to say this is not the SimCity that many probably grew up with, but it’s interesting to see how it would have looked like on the NES back in the day. For those who have always been curious about the history of video games, this could worth taking a look at.
