There are times when you want to remove the background from an image and just isolate the subject, like in a photograph where you just want the item in the foreground, like that of a person. There are many ways to go about doing so, and depending on your patience and skill, it can sometimes be hit or miss.However if you don’t think that you’re particularly skilled at using apps like Photoshop and just want a quick and relatively painless way of removing background images, then you might be interested in a free online tool called Remove.bg. This is an online tool that claims that within 5 seconds, it will be capable of removing background images from photos.
This is apparently thanks to the use of AI that makes the tool “smarter” at removing such images. According to its FAQ, “We use sophisticated AI technology to detect foreground layers and separate them from the background. To improve the results we have several additional algorithms in place, for instance to improve fine details and prevent color contamination.”
So far the tool only works for removing backgrounds in images that contain a person’s face, meaning that it will only work for portraits for now, although its developers do have plans to expand its functionality that could help aid product shots in the future as well.
