A lot of our smartphones these days are clearly designed to feature the latest technological features, like edgeless displays, facial recognition software, AI, and so on. However there isn’t much emphasis placed on durability since we’ve yet to really see a nicely designed rugged phone.

Now if a rugged phone is something you’re after and you don’t really care too much about having the latest tech and what not, then you might be interested to learn that Verizon and Cat Phones have teamed up for the Cat S48c. Now Cat is not a new name when it comes to smartphones as the company has created various rugged phones in the past, so the S48c is the latest from the company.

Some of the advertised rugged features of the phone include resistant to extreme temperatures ranging from -13F to 131F for up to 24 hours; waterproof up to depths of 4 feet of water for up to 35 minutes; and MIL-SPEC 810G certification. As for specs, the phone is probably a mid-ranger at best with a 5-inch Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, and Android 8.0 Oreo calling the shots.

The phone will be available at the end of the month from Verizon where it will be priced at $250 with a two-year contract, or $600 for the phone by itself.
