The SSC Tuatara has proven to be one elusive supercar even since it was unveiled at Pebble Beach last year. It was actually previewed at the same event back in 2011 but it was a concept at that point in time. The one that the company showed off last year was a prototype. There’s a second pre-production prototype now that has been shown on video which also lets us hear the glorious exhaust note of this 1750 horsepower supercar.

Yes, you read that right, the twin-turbo 5.9-liter V8 engine in this car is said to produce a whopping 1750 horsepower. Washington-based SSC North America has previously claimed that this supercar will be able to break the 300mph barrier.

This short three-minute video’s main attraction is unquestionably the SSC Tuatara even though we also get to see the one-off Pagani Huayra “Scozia” and countless other luxury cars. This second pre-production model doesn’t have side mirrors or the kind of materials in the cabin that you would expect from a car of this caliber.

Only 100 units of this rather unique car may be manufactured by SSC North America. Its attempt to get the title of manufacturing the fastest production car will certainly be watched by many with bated breath. SSC North America has “full confidence” that this 1750 horsepower beast will be able to achieve this milestone.
