Analyst Thinks That Apple Should Acquire Netflix

Apple is currently developing their own video streaming platform. The company has been going around acquiring shows to add to its catalogue, but despite Apple’s size and resources, this has to be a daunting task given that the company doesn’t really have much experience in that field, since streaming would be a different ballgame compared to selling shows and movies ala carte.

This is why there are some who believe that Apple could use some help, and that help could come in the form of acquiring a company already familiar with the inner workings of video streaming: Netflix. Recently an analyst for JP Morgan has suggested that Apple should acquire Netflix, which would help Apple remove a competitor off the board.

According to analyst Samik Chatterjee, “We think Netflix is best strategic fit on leading position in engagement level as well as original content, differentiating itself from pure aggregators of content. We believe there is value to acquiring the most successful player in this space, which is hard to replicate with a smaller player in this market.”

This is actually not the first time that it has been suggested that Apple should acquire Netflix. Last year analysts had also suggested that Netflix would make a good acquisition for Apple. There was even talks back in 2016 that Apple and Disney could be interested, although judging by the looks of it, both companies have since decided to go ahead with their own services instead.
