WhatsApp is the world’s most popular cross-platform messaging service. It’s sending warns that urge users to not use third-party modified versions of the app such as WhatsApp Plus and GB WhatsApp. The company has said that those who use these apps are at a security risk since WhatsApp can’t vouch for the security practices of the modified versions. The Facebook-owned company has even said that it will ban users that use the modified apps.
Users who opt for the modified versions of the WhatsApp app will be handed out temporary bans for their accounts. If they get banned, they have to download the official version of WhatsApp to regain access to their account.
Users are also responsible for saving their chat history before they download the official app if they’re using a modified version other than WhatsApp Plus or GB WhatsApp. Reports suggest that this new policy is already in place and that WhatsApp is actively handing out temporary bans so that users turn to the official app instead. It has also issued warnings that the entire chat history of users violating this guideline may be deleted.
If for some reason you having been using a WhatsApp clone, it would probably be best to get rid of that and install the official version on your device.
