The New Mortal Kombat Movie Will Begin Filming In Australia

While we wouldn’t go as far as calling the original Mortal Kombat movie good, it was a classic in its own way and was one of the earlier video game movie adaptations. As some fans might have heard, a reboot of the movie is in the works and now it seems that its filming is expected to begin shortly over Adelaide, Australia.

This is according to a tweet by ABC Adelaidereport Claire Campbell in which she tweeted that South Australian Premier Steven Marshall announced the filming of the movie. Pre-production is expected to kick off later this month, but apart from that not much else is known about the movie and what it could be about.

However, the purpose of the announcement by the Premier is to show how the movie is expected to help generate 580 jobs for the state as well as bringing about $70 million to the South Australia economy. It will be interesting to see how the movie turns out, especially since video game movie adaptations have never really done quite well.

However, the recently-released Detective Pikachu seems to be defying the odds with it generating a fair amount of revenue since its release. There is no word on when the new Mortal Kombat movie will be released, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more details.
