Sony unveiled its new flagship smartphone the Xperia 1 earlier this year in February. It’s a bit different from the other flagships on the market as it has a super tall 21:9 aspect ratio 4K HDR OLED display. The company today confirmed when this device will be coming to the United States. You will be able to purchase it on July 12th but bear in mind that it’s going to cost a pretty penny.

Sony confirmed today that the Xperia 1 is going to be available for purchase in the United States starting July 12th for $949. The price tag isn’t that outrageous when you consider how much top-tier smartphones are going for these days. Most of them are priced around the same level.

The company claims that this is the first smartphone with a 21:9 aspect ratio 4K HDR OLED display. Since it’s super tall, it’s perfect for watching movies. Most films will be able to play on the display without any letterboxing. The taller display also means that users get more verticle space when they’re scrolling in apps like Twitter.

It also has the kind of specs that you’d expect from a flagship smartphone in 2019. The Xperia 1 packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There’s a triple camera system at the back as well.
