LG’s OLED TV Panels Receive ‘Eye Comfort Display’ Certification

Given how much time we spend looking at our screens, like our TVs, there are several things that need to be considered. This includes the size, panel type, clarity, color, and so on. However, as we said, with how much time we spend looking at it, comfort should also be a feature that should be just as important.

If there was ever a reason to consider LG for your next TV purchase, the company has recently announced that they have received an “Eye Comfort Display” certification from TÜV Rheinland for its large-sized OLED TV panels. This checks against features such as blue light content, image flicker, and also high-quality imaging.

According to LG’s executive VP and head of TV Business Unit at LG Display, Dr. Chang-Ho Oh, “Certification by TÜV Rheinland means that LG Display’s OLED TV panels are now internationally recognized as displays beneficial for eye health. We anticipate that consumers can now choose OLED TVs with more confidence.”

Things like blue light emitted by our displays has been linked to disruptions in our sleep cycle, and this is why we’re seeing more companies coming up with ways to limit them. For example, Apple’s iOS devices come with a Night Shift mode that increases the color temperature of the display so that it gives off less blue light.
