Based on everything that we know about the Google Pixel 4, one of the upcoming features of the phone is called Motion Sense. This is based on Project Soli that Google has been working on for the past few years. While touchless gestures on smartphones aren’t new and have been attempted by other handset makers in the past, Motion Sense is expected to be a lot better and more accurate.

This is due to the use of 60GHz frequencies, and as such, it was previously reported that not all regions would support the feature at launch. That being said, thanks to the folks at XDA Developers, they have managed to uncover what could potentially be all the markets that Motion Sense will be available in at launch, which according to them should cover about 53 markets around the world. This includes:

  • Australia
  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
  • Canada
  • Croatia
  • Cyprus
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • French Guiana
  • French Indian Ocean Territories (both MCCs are listed)
  • French Polynesia
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Guadeloupe
  • Guam
  • Hungary
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Korea
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Martinique
  • Netherlands
  • New Caledonia
  • Northern Mariana Islands
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Puerto Rico
  • Romania
  • Saint Barthélemy
  • Saint Martin
  • Saint Pierre and Miquelon
  • Singapore
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Taiwan
  • United Arab Emirates
  • United Kingdom
  • United States of America
  • United States Virgin Islands
  • Wallis and Futuna

The reason, as we said, is largely due to the use of the 60GHz frequency in which Google needs to apply for approval with the relevant regulatory agencies before it can be used. This does not mean that Motion Sense will be limited to these regions forever. We imagine that over time they will become available to more locations once approval has been granted, but these are just the potential markets that will be getting it at launch.
