This Guitar Pedal Can Be Controlled Using Your Smartphone

If you’re a guitar player, then there’s a very good chance you might own several pedals. These pedals, for those unfamiliar, help guitar players create and adjust their guitar’s sounds to their liking, whether it be adding a crunchy distortion, a fuzzy overdrive, or the wah sound of a face-melting guitar solo, these pedals help guitarists accomplish that.

However, it can be a rather expensive affair to collect a bunch of pedals, not to mention it isn’t always practical as it can take up a lot of space, and that’s where Chaos Audio’s Stratus comes into play. This is a guitar pedal that can be controlled using your smartphone and the accompanying app.

The app will feature a bunch of different pedals that guitar players can use to chain together different sounds digitally, which according to the company’s CEO Landon McCoy, makes this pedal more of a computer rather than a stomp box.

According to McCoy, “Stratus has all of the amenities guitarists have come to know… from other smart devices including internal memory, a rechargeable battery, USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0 and a functionally aesthetic LED light strip used for the tuner and other tools.” It’s a rather intriguing device and it seems to be well-suited for a budget setup or a portable setup and might be worth looking into if you don’t mind pledging to its Kickstarter campaign.
