Study Finds That The AirPods Pro Could Double As A Very Basic Hearing Aid

Apple’s AirPods Pro are a pair of noise-cancelling wireless earbuds, but did you know that they could also be doubled as a hearing aid? Apparently that’s what Auditory Insight has found, where based on what they read of Apple’s hearing health study, they came to the conclusion that the AirPods Pro can actually be used as a very basic hearing aid.

Now, obviously the AirPods Pro wasn’t designed to be used as a hearing aid, but thanks to the audio amplification feature, the study found that it could actually help those who might be experiencing mild hearing loss. They also figured that it could help deal with the concerns that there could be some social stigma of being seen with a hearing aid, so having a pair of AirPods Pros in your ear, no one would give you a second look.

However, like we said, this is only for those with mild hearing loss. For those who have more severe symptoms, you might need something a bit more professional. That being said, there are some caveats to this setup. For starters, users must complete an audiogram in a separate app before importing it to the Health app, so it’s not like it’s usable right out of the box.

Secondly, the AirPods Pro has a battery life of around 4.5 hours, meaning that it might not be very useful if you need to wear it throughout the day, although we suppose you can recharge it, but that means having to wait.
