There have been rumors that have suggested that Netflix could be getting into gaming, and sure enough those rumors have since been proven true. While the company hasn’t made an official announcement, it was confirmed in the company’s letter to investors where the company revealed their plans.

According to Netflix, “We’re also in the early stages of further expanding into games, building on our earlier efforts around interactivity (eg, Black Mirror Bandersnatch) and our Stranger Things games. We view gaming as another new content category for us, similar to our expansion into original films, animation and unscripted TV.”

The good news is that if you’re already subscribed to Netflix, it looks like access to those games will be free of charge as it will be included in your subscription. Netflix states that their initial batch of games will be mobile focused, but at this point in time, it is unclear what type of games will be available.

It will be interesting to see how Netflix’s initiative will compare against other services, especially since video games aren’t really something Netflix is known for, despite their efforts at creating shows based on video games. Apple has a similar subscription in the form of Apple Arcade, and so does Google with Google Play Pass.
