When CD Projekt launched Cyberpunk 2077, it was intended for both previous and next-gen consoles. However, the company stated that they had plans to introduce patches to the game and to the Witcher 3 that would upgrade their graphics to make them look more like next-gen games.

The company had initially planned to release it by the end of the year, but they have since told investors that that might no longer be possible. While CD Projekt did not explicitly state that the updates to the games will be delayed, they “can’t say with full certainty” that it will launch this year, even though they are still pushing for a late 2021 release.

According to SVP of business development Michał Nowakowski, “The target is to release the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 late this year. At the same time, keeping in mind the lessons we have learned during the past year and taking into account that this project still remains in development, we can’t say with full certainty that the production schedule will not change.”

Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated games of 2020, but it had a disastrous launch that forced the developers to focus on fixing the problems to try and bring the game back to its promised levels. If you have been anticipating this next-gen patch, maybe don’t get your hopes up at a 2021 release, at least for now.
