Phones these days pack quite a lot of RAM into them, and typically speaking it’s usually enough. This is because developers have to work around what’s already available so usually apps are optimized to take advantage of what’s already there, but there are of course some exceptions.

If you happen to be a power user who uses a lot of intensive apps and would like to have more RAM, the OnePlus 9RT could be the phone for you. This is because according to leaked promotional material, it appears that one of the features of the OnePlus 9RT is that it will come with 7GB of virtual RAM.

This is in addition to the 8GB of physical LPDDR5 RAM that the phone already has, which means that on paper, you would essentially have 15GB of RAM to play around with. However, keep in mind that virtual RAM uses your storage to make up for the physical RAM, so in terms of speed it will be different from the one that already comes with the phone, and also, it could mean you’ll end up with less storage.

Presumably users will be able to choose whether or not they want to use this virtual RAM, so in case you don’t, you won’t have to eat into your storage space, but it will be there in the event that you might need it.
