One of the current limitations of Instagram Stories is that each story you post has a maximum duration of 15 seconds. You could of course post 10 of them if you have a video that’s 150 seconds long, but the breaks in between each Story can be a bit jarring and could ruin the narrative you were going for.

However, it now appears that the company is testing extending the duration of Stories for up to 60 seconds. This is according to a tweet by Matt Navarra who shared a screenshot from @yousufortaccom in Turkey in which they discovered a notification that informed them of the change

Instagram already offers creators a way to post long form content through IGTV, and creators usually post a link in their Stories so that users can watch it. However, by allowing this longer form content to be shared on Stories, it will make it a more seamless watching experience so users won’t have to bounce around from section to section.

Keep in mind that not all users are seeing this new change so it is possible that Instagram is testing out the feature before rolling it out to more users, assuming that’s their plan.
