The chinese brand vivo has officially unveiled OriginOS 6, its latest operating system, which is based on the Android 16 OS. The announcement, made at the company’s annual developer conference, also showcased the new BlueOS 3 and CarLink 3.0. OriginOS 6 is considered a substantial software upgrade to both new and existing Vivo and iQOO devices.
New Features and Design
The new OS introduces a noticeable redesign to the user interface, affecting the look of the home page, lock screen, and also applications. The new aesthetic bring a refined visual style, inspired by Apple’s Liquid Glass UI, featuring more curved widgets and circular app icons, alongside extensive customization options for the home screen widgets.
Performance was a key focus of this update; vivo has integrated the new Blue River Smooth Engine, which was designed to enhance the user experience through improved computing capabilities, a dual rendering architecture, and smoother animations. All of the technical refinements are intended to make the interface and app switching (multi-tasking) more responsive.
AI and Image Capabilities
Artificial Intelligence is the greatest focus and a major component of OriginOS 6, with deep integration of AI-powered tools spread across the system. These include an AI phone assistant, AI summary, AI photo elimination, and an updated Circle to Search 2.0. The AI was also designed to offer better contextual understanding of the content being displayed on the screen.
Image editing tools have also been upgraded with AI assistance, enabling users to enhance picture resolution, remove objects or people—even from Live Photos—and easily convert pictures to PDFs.
