Huawei Pura X2 Could Feature 7.5-Inch Foldable Display And 200MP Camera

Huawei may be preparing to revisit one of its more unconventional foldable phone concepts with a new model that builds on the original design.

In March 2025, the company introduced the Huawei Pura X, notable for being the industry’s first foldable smartphone with a “wide fold” form factor. Unlike most foldables that unfold into tall, narrow displays, the Pura X opened into a wider 16:10 screen, offering a tablet-like experience better suited for media consumption and multitasking.

According to a new leak shared by a tipster on Weibo and mentioned by GizmoChina, Huawei is now working on a successor called the Huawei Pura X2. The information suggests that Huawei will largely preserve the distinctive proportions of the original model rather than redesigning it from scratch.

While the overall shape is expected to remain similar, one of the more visible changes could be the outer display. The external screen is rumored to be significantly larger, which could improve usability for notifications, messaging, and other quick tasks without needing to unfold the device.

Huawei may also revise the rear camera system. The Pura X2 is said to feature a horizontal camera module housing three or possibly four sensors. A major highlight could be the addition of a 200MP main camera, representing a substantial upgrade over the previous generation.

Internally, the Pura X2 is expected to rely on Huawei’s in-house Kirin chipset. The tipster mentions the Kirin 9020, 9030, and 9030 Pro, leaving open the possibility of multiple variants or a final chip choice that has yet to be confirmed.

When unfolded, the inner display is expected to retain the 16:10 aspect ratio but could increase in size to around 7.5 inches. The hinge mechanism may adopt technology from the Mate X7, potentially improving durability and smoothness.

The device is also rumored to offer generous memory configurations, starting at 12GB of RAM and going up to 20GB, with storage options reaching 1TB. The Pura X2 is expected to run HarmonyOS 6.1.
