For some people, Evernote is just a note taking app, for others, it is a one-stop productivity tool. Evernote might seem like a fancy note-taking app, but it is much more than that . If you are committed and willing to give it a chance, you should not be disappointed.

If you are thinking of using the premium features, you should take the time to learn how to best exploit this tool to maximize your return on investment, and that’s what we’re going to show you here.

Evernote can organize your whole life, freeing your mind from “what to do?” and “where is it?”. In this tutorial, we are going to show you things you can do with Evernote that will skyrocket your productivity. Although, it is impossible to list all the things Evernote can do for you, we will list the most important things that will make any average person super-productive.

1. Evernote Web Clipper

Evernote Web Clipper definitely deserves the first mention. It works as a browser extension that will let you clip any page or part of a page with a single click. It will also let you read articles in a simple manner without any kind of distractions, and you can bookmark pages that will be synced to all your devices.

You can edit the clipped image, add annotations to it, crop it, and highlight the content in it. If you think it is not that productive, try implementing it in your daily life, and you will see how helping all this can be. You can also follow the official guide’s instructions to get the best out of it.

2. Merge Notes

Evernote is the ultimate note-taking app, so you will probably have tons of notes. There is also a chance you may have multiple notes that belong to same scenario or category, and could be better organized. This is where Evernote’s Merge notes will help you keep things neat.

As the name suggests, Merge Notes will merge the selected notes into a single note. This is extremely handy and gets rid of all the clutter at the same. All you need to do is select each note by hold Shift key and clicking on each note. From the menu select Merge notes and they will be merged.

3. Add Reminders

You can set a reminder to all of the notes created in Evernote. This is a simple feature, but it can be very powerful when used properly. You can just easily take a note of something and when you will actually have to access it the note itself will remind you. How about that for organizing your life?

Just click on the Alarm clock icon in the main interface of the desktop client, and set the time when you would like to be notified.

4. Create Audio Notes

If written notes are bogging you down, then you also have the option to create audio notes. Although written notes are quite good in their own way, it maybe quicker to create an audio note to save time.

You can click on the Microphone icon in the interface, and start recording what you need to note.

5. Presentation mode

Presentation mode works same as a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. You can present your notes in a slide show manner to help other people understand. This can be perfect, if you got some ideas noted and now want to demonstrate them to other people.

All you need to do is click on “Preset” at the top and you will enter presentation mode with a laser pen as your mouse cursor.

6. Make Business cards Digital

If you are working in a business environment, your wallet must be full of business cards. This can clutter things quite quickly, but Evernote has an answer to this problem. You can use Evernote to take snapshots of any business card, and Evernote will create a digital business card out of it.

All the details on the card will also be saved in your Evernote account, thanks to the OCR technology (optical character recognition) of the app. You can easily access this by using a simple text-search for it. This beats searching in your shoe box of cards any day of the week.

Evernote’s original claim to fame was to be able to extract text information from the images stored into it. It still is a tremendous value today: receipts and any other text information in images can be searched.

7. Transcript Notes

If you are not a big fan of Typing, then you can also dictate the notes right into Evernote.

The voice transcript works well and makes very few mistakes, mainly on hard-to–pronounce words. Most short sentences can benefit from this. Longer phrases become increasingly difficult for the transcript program.

8. Use Two-Step Verification

This is not actually a productivity boost, but with all the above mentioned information, security of all the information must also have hit your mind. Just like many other popular services (but not all), Evernote offers a two-step verification option, which is an extra code that changes every minute or so.

This will make it extremely hard for anyone to hack your account even if they have both username and the password. You will be sent a text to verify if it is really you who is opening the account. If the code in the text is not provided, your account will not be opened.

We have just touched the tip of the iceberg, Evernote can help you with almost anything in your digital life. There is just so much more to discover, all you need to do is jump in and explore how it can affect your digital life.
