HMD Global is trying to be very forthcoming with updates for the Nokia-branded handsets it has released so far. The company has confirmed that it’s going to release the Nokia 3 Android 7.1.1 update by the end of August. The Nokia 3 is HMD Global’s entry-level handset that’s just available in a handful of markets right now.
The Nokia that you’ve known for a long time doesn’t exist anymore. That company doesn’t make smartphones on its own anymore but it did license its iconic brand to HMD Global, another Finnish company, that’s now going to make and sell smartphones under the Nokia brand. At the Mobile World Congress 2017 today, HMD Global unveiled three new smartphones that are running pure Android.
