When Apple confirmed that its newer iPhones would support wireless charging, unsurprisingly the company also announced their own wireless charging pad called the AirPower. However no release date was given for the device, although an earlier report this month suggested that March could be a possible release window.

Now it seems that the rumor is gaining traction because in a report from Macotakara (via 9to5Mac), they too are claiming that a March launch is possible as well. Unfortunately save for a vague March window, no specific dates were mentioned. However other details were revealed, such as how it would be sold through Apple’s own retail stores as well as third-party stores such as Best Buy.

There was also no mention of pricing, although we had previously heard it could cost a whopping $200 which is pretty pricey as far as wireless charging mats are concerned. Macotakara’s post also did not include details about the wireless charging case for the AirPods which are rumored to debut alongside the AirPower.

In any case what’s interesting about the potential March launch is that we have heard reports that Apple could have new iPads in the works that could possibly be launched in March. This means that a March launch for the AirPower charging mat wouldn’t be completely out of the question.
