HP issues recall of notebook batteries

HP has issued a recall of notebook batteries due to them being a fire hazard, where since May 2009, eleven people have been injured due to faulty batteries in HP notebooks no thanks to overheating and explosions. The batteries affected can be found in around 54,000 units of HP and Compaq notebooks, where up to 70,000 units were previously recalled in May 2009. Since the May 2009 recall, it seems that there were 38 additional reports of batteries that overheated and ruptured, where out of those 11 people experienced minor personal injury while there were 31 instances of minor property damage. Do check out whether your HP or Compaq notebook is listed under the chart above, and if so, kindly contact the nearest HP office for a replacement lest you add to the statistics. [Press Release]
