New Nike+ GPS iPhone App Tracks Your Runs Without An Accessory

Nike has announced a stand-alone version of its Nike + iPod app, dubbed the Nike+ GPS. This $2 app uses Apple’s built-in accelerometer and GPS capabilities to track the pace and distance of your run without the need for a separate Nike + iPod adapter. Users will even be treated to a visual map of the route tied to Google Maps. Other features include mid-run coaching, a hand-picked boost song, and information that can be uploaded to the Nike+ site that counts towards your running stats. Users will need at least a device that’s running on iOS 3.1 or newer, and if your iOS device meets the criteria, you can always check it out.
